walk on adventures

::

If you’re not from Maine (or at least somewhere near Freeport) you’re probably wondering what the heck I’m talking about. Walk-on Adventures? Really? Yes, really. L.L. Bean consistently outdoes itself. From the 24hour/day, 365day/year norm to the Summer concert series to the wide variety of adventures, it’s no wonder the Maine staple is a hot local and tourist destination. I first learned of the Walk-On Adventures about 6 years ago. I was up visiting family and brought 10 friends from NY for a little light camping at Wolf Neck Farm in Freeport. We tried to keep the weekend rustic and low-key, but couldn’t resist adding a day of excitement. Some of us went kayaking, some did archery and we all tried a hand at sporting clays. It was a hit for all and I’ve wanted to go back and give it another go for years.

Thankfully, I have a pop who lives right in Freeport, happens to work for L.L.Bean and enjoys adventuring as much as I do. For the first time in years, I was home for Father’s day, so we signed ourselves up for archery. It was an absolute blast… something we both thoroughly enjoyed. I’d even consider getting one of the starter packs if I had a bit more lawn to work with. If you live in the area, or you’re thinking of visiting, I’d encourage giving it a shot! Well worth your $20!
